The Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society of Malaysia (PENSMA) is also known as "Persatuan Pemakanan Parenteral Dan Enteral Malaysia" in Bahasa Malaysia.

Objectives

The aims and objectives of the association are:

    • To promote the study and understanding of the science of parenteral and enteral nutrition and allied fields

    • To encourage close cooperation between members

    • To inform and acquaint the Government and the Public with matters related to parenteral and enteral nutrition


Membership

The Society has the following categories of membership:

  • Ordinary membership shall be open to all persons residing in Malaysia and possess one of the following qualifications:
    1. MD, MBBS or higher
    2. Bachelor in Dietetics or Nutrition or related areas
    3. Bachelor in Pharmacy
    4. State Registered Nurse

  • Associate Membership shall be opened to persons trained in other disciplines and interested in the aims and objectives of the Association.

  • Student membership shall be open to persons who at the time of application, is a registered student pursuing a degree as provided for under clause 4(a). No university or college student shall be admitted as a member of the Association without prior written approval of the Vice Chancellor of the university or college concerned. He shall cease to become a student member on the completion or termination on his studies.

  • Honorary members shall be elected at a General Meeting on the recommendations of the council for outstanding and meritorious contributions to the field of parenteral and enteral nutrition or to the Association.

  • Corporate Membership shall be opened to any locally incorporated organization involved in parenteral and enteral nutrition and allied fields and is interested in the aims and objectives of the Association. Corporate members are entitled to nominate two representative to the Association

  • Associate, Student, Honorary and Corporate members of the Association shall be eligible to participate in the activities, functions and meeting except to vote at General Meetings and to hold office in the Council

Admission to Membership

Every application for membership shall be proposed and seconded by two existing Ordinary members and shall be forwarded to the secretary, who shall at the first convenient opportunity, submit it to the Council for approval. The Council may at its direction reject any application without assigning any reasons thereof.
